At the July Institute of Food Technologists (IFT) annual expo, Welch’s officially launched Fruitworx, a delicious new ingredient made from Welch’s own Concord and Niagara grapes. Fruitworx garnered significant attention from media and potential customers, generating numerous sales leads and trade media interviews.
Held in Chicago, IFT brought together more than 23,000 top global food professionals, including leading brands and suppliers, to experience the latest ingredient trends.
Welch’s Global Ingredients Group (GIG) and partners made their space a conference destination, featuring numerous Welch’s experts, bold and colorful displays, an interactive photo booth and several Fruitworx bits samples as well as cookies made with the fruit pieces.
IFT made the ideal spot to launch Fruitworx, versatile pieces of concentrated fruit that are the perfect ingredient for manufacturers to use in a variety of foods. Taura’s ultra-rapid concentration allows them to remove water quickly and condense the natural, tasty goodness of our grapes into pieces of flexible shapes and sizes.
Fruitworx is the first major venture of Welch’s GIG, whose mission is to utilize the crop and deliver higher value for our grapes. Building our brand and maximizing our company’s value means finding new ways to sell grapes as value-added ingredients, rather than just in our existing products or as a bulk commodity.
The GIG team is now following up on numerous business leads generated at IFT. We’ll keep you posted on developments.
