R&D and Grape Center of Excellence

Welch's Global Ingredients has a fully trained and supportive R&D and Product Development staff in grape juice, beverage and food applications. This group, known as the Grape Center of Excellence, provides leadership in a number of areas important to maintaining and improving the quality and marketability of Welch's Concord and Niagara grapes. Specifically, the GCOE scope is from vineyard to bottle and our areas of research focus on:

* Improving the quality of our Concord and Niagara grapes by working closely with our grower-owners

* Deepening our understanding of grape chemistry to improve quality, cost and processing efficiency

* Formulation and processing technology to deliver consistent taste, despite the variation in crop size and quality

* Developing new analytical methods to characterize juice quality and control grape processing

* Conducting clinical testing to understand the health and nutrition benefits of Concord and Niagara grape juice

* Developing novel Concord and Niagara ingredients for Welch's and external customers
